What Is a Spinning Squirrel Feeder? Meet the NASA-Inspired WhirlASquirrel
Whirl-a-Squirrel is a freestanding squirrel feeder with a moving arm and corn cob holders. Set it up in your yard, adjust the balance, and watch what happens when a squirrel climbs toward the corn.
Some pause to figure it out. Others get straight to the snack. Their weight turns the arm, so the action comes from the squirrel itself.
Watch from your window or porch
You don’t need a tree or an existing bird feeder. Whirl-a-Squirrel installs in the ground and uses heavy-duty steel construction. Choose a spot you can see from your home, with clear space for the arm’s full movement.
Two sizes, the same idea
The Original stands about 70 inches tall. It’s the smaller of our two models.
The Colossal stands more than seven feet tall and has a nearly 7½-foot spinning wingspan. Measure your space before choosing the larger model.
Both have adjustable counterweights and corn cob holders, with assembly instructions, free shipping, and a one-year warranty.
Our family’s story
The idea traces back to NASA scientist O. Glenn Smith and conversations with his astronaut friend, Neil Armstrong, inspired by astronaut-training centrifuges. Read the family account and see the photographs.
Whirl-a-Squirrel is independently owned and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA or the Armstrong family.
