Where to Put a Freestanding Spinning Squirrel Feeder

Start with the view. Where do you sit with your morning coffee, or look out at the yard? Find a spot you can see from there, then check the ground and leave room for the whole arm to turn.

Measure the full movement area

The pole takes up little space. The moving arm needs much more. Check its full path for branches, fences, furniture, and anything else it could hit. The Colossal’s wingspan is nearly 7½ feet, so allow for its scale and follow your model’s clearance instructions.

Install the base as directed and make sure the pole is upright and secure before use.

Choose a practical viewing position

A clear view from a window or porch lets you watch without standing beside the feeder. Keep it away from walkways, play areas, and places where people or pets could enter the arm’s path. Give squirrels space to investigate on their own.

Leave room for routine care

You’ll need to reach the corn holders and check the fittings, so choose a spot that is easy to get to. Check the base and the arm’s movement before adding corn. Follow the supplied instructions and stop using the feeder if any part is damaged.
